| ABSTRACT: | Vital Metals Limited (ASX: VML) is happy to report that it has intersected high-grade gold mineralisation in the first round of diamond drilling in the new exploration program at its 100 per cent-owned Kollo Gold Project in Burkina Faso. Vital’s Kollo Project sits within the Markoye Structural Corridor, which is known to host several world-class gold deposits, including two recent major gold discoveries (Cardinal Resources’ Namdini Project in Ghana and West African Resources’ Tanlouka Project). Previous drilling1 returned 5m at 60.3g/t from 75m, 15m at 7.78g/t from 105m and 31m at 3.19g/t from 34m. The first results from the new drilling program continue to demonstrate the high-grade nature of the gold mineralisation at Kollo. Importantly, high-grade gold mineralisation was intersected further to the north (KD008) than expected based on previous RC drilling results. The gold mineralisation is associated with an intensely sheared, silica and Fe-carbonate alteration zone that has been intersected in drilling across over 80m of strike length. Vital Managing Director Mark Strizek said there was clear evidence that the gold mineralisation at Kollo was hosted within a package of extremely deformed and sheared mafic intrusives. “This increases the prospectivity of Kollo,” Mr Strizek said. “Mafic intrusives are an excellent host rock and show Kollo has the potential to host to a large-tonnage deposit.” | |
