ABSTRACT: | The 3,091 hectare Hartless Joe Project is located at latitude 60°55’N and longitude 13450’W on NTS map sheet 105D/15, approximately 30 km northeast of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. The Project comprises 345 Hart, Joe and Les claims, all located within the Whitehorse Mining District. The claims are owned 100% by Strategic Metals Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia. Access is by helicopter from Whitehorse, with the closest road/trail access approximately 20 km south of the property. The Hartless Joe Project occurs within Stikinia, a predominantly island arc terrane that extends through northern British Columbia into central Yukon. Stikinia in the project area is dominated by arc-related volcano-sedimentary rocks of the Middle Triassic Joe Mountain Formation. This Formation is overlain by clastic sedimentary rocks with extensive carbonate units of the Upper Triassic Lewes River Group, which are in turn overlain by turbiditic fine clastic rocks with local limestone horizons of the Lower to Middle Jurassic Laberge Group. The above units are locally overlain by local exposures of Mid Cretaceous Byng Creek volcanic rocks and are intruded by the Early Cretaceous M’Clintock Lakes pluton of the Teslin plutonic suite, and the Mid Cretaceous Cap Creek pluton of the Whitehorse suite. A complex extensional fault system, including a pull-apart basin, is evident on the property and is a favourable environment for the development of epithermal vein systems. The exploration model deposit type for the Hartless Joe Project is the low sulphidation epithermal gold-silver type based on the presence of epithermal vein textures and breccias with low base metal content within a favourable geological setting within Stikinia. Stikinia hosts several significant epithermal gold-silver and exhalite deposits and mines in British Columbia, such as the Brucejack deposit, and the Premier and Eskay Creek mines, within geological environments similar to that at the Hartless Joe property. | |
