ABSTRACT: | The 22,000 hectare CD Project, NTS map sheets 115I/03 & 04 and 115H/13, is centered at a latitude 62°04’N and a longitude of 13744’W, approximately 70 km west of Carmacks, which is 175 km by paved highway north of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. The CD Project consists of 1060 contiguous CCC, DDD, CAD and Shamrock claims within the Whitehorse Mining District, near the Mount Nansen mining camp within the Dawson Range copper - gold belt. The claims are owned 100% by Strategic Metals Ltd., British Columbia, subject to an NSR on the Shamrock 1 to 12 claims. Regionally the CD Project is located within an under-explored portion of the 350 km long Dawson Range copper - gold belt, which extends northwesterly from the Aishihik Lake area of southwestern Yukon into east-central Alaska. The belt hosts several deposits and mineralized showings of several deposit models including calc-alkalic copper-gold molybdenum porphyry, intrusion related gold, associated adjacent epithermal vein and breccia systems, orogenic gold veins and peripheral polymetallic veins. Significant deposits include Casino Mining Corporation’s Casino porphyry coppergold-molybdenum deposit, the Klaza deposit (a CMD variant of an epithermal system) of Rockhaven Resources Ltd. (“Rockhaven Resources”), and the Coffee orogenic gold deposit of Goldcorp Inc. (“Goldcorp”). Mineralization is commonly associated with Late Cretaceous intrusions (primarily small plugs and breccia bodies of the early Late Cretaceous Casino suite), primarily hosted by the intrusions and/or the older metamorphosed basement complex of the Yukon-Tanana terrane, and the Mid Cretaceous Dawson Range batholith. The CD Project is primarily underlain by Permian and older metamorphic rocks including: siliciclastic metasedimentary rocks of the Snowcap assemblage, with local marble horizons; mafic and felsic metavolcanic rocks of the Finlayson assemblage; orthogneiss bodies (meta-intrusions) of the Mississippian Simpson Range and Permian Sulphur Creek plutonic suites in the northwestern property area; and a fault bounded body of ultramafic to mafic rocks (Permian Schist Creek complex) in the central property area. The metamorphosed units have been intruded by Mid Cretaceous plutonic rocks, and feldspar ±quartz porphyry dykes and small stocks of the Late Cretaceous Casino suite. The older units are locally overlain by the Paleogene Rhyolite Creek Formation in the southwest property area | |
