| ABSTRACT: | Randgold Resources Limited (Randgold or RRL) is an exploration and mining company exploring, developing and operating mines in West and East Africa. The Massawa Gold Project consists of the Massawa, Sofia Main, Sofia North, Delya, Tina and Bambaraya gold deposits, all of which are grassroots exploration discoveries in Eastern Senegal. The project is located approximately 90 km due west of the Randgold’s Loulo Gold Mine in Mali. Regional soil sampling by Randgold and AngloGold Ashanti Limited (AngloGold) effectively identified gold in soil anomalies in 2005 with subsequent Rotary Air Blast (RAB) drilling and diamond drilling successfully confirming bedrock gold mineralisation. At the Massawa deposit, recent close spaced Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling has been completed over four orientation grids (ranging from 5 m by 5 m to 15 m by 10 m drill spacing) over the Central Zone (CZ) while infill drilling to a 25 m spacing has been completed over Sofia. This additional drilling has increased the understanding of the mineralised bodies and led to a revision of the Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimates. This purpose of this report is to support the public disclosure of the 2016 updated Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve estimation at Massawa based on pre-feasibility level studies. Recent targeted project development work programmes have made a material impact on the mineralised bodies and potential of the project to meet Randgold’s corporate investment requirements. | |
