| ABSTRACT: | The PT Tablasufa Nickel Mining (“TNM”) Cobalt Project is comprised of an ‘Izin Usaha Pertambangan (“IUP”) Operasi Produksi’ (“Mining Business Permit–Production Operation”) license covering exactly 5000 hectares in Depapre District, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, Republic of Indonesia. Rhys Resources Ltd., through an agreement with Cobalt Power Asia Ltd (“CPA”), has the rights to a 100% interest in the IUP license (subject to a 2.0% net smelter return). The project area is accessible by a network of sealed roads which connect it with the city of Sentani located about 15 km to the east and with the capital city of Papua Province, Jayapura, located about 40 km to the east. Travel time between the project area and Jayapura is about one hour. There are several daily flights connecting Jayapura directly with a number of other Indonesian cities. Non-stop flight time between Indonesia’s national capital, Jakarta, and Jayapura is around 5 hours 30 minutes. The TNM project area has been explored systematically since the early 1950’s by the Dutch Colonial Government and in the early 1970’s by PT Pacific Nikkel, a consortium of multinational companies led by United States Steel Corporation. PT Iriana Sentani (95% held by Iriana Resources Corporation of Canada) carried out regional geophysical and geochemical surveys and analysis of satellite imagery in 1987. PT TNM completed geological mapping and limited follow-up drilling in 2009 until 2011. The most comprehensive historical field exploration was carried out by PT Pacific Nikkel, including exploration trenching, test-pitting, manual augering, tripod-supported gas-powered augering and truck-mounted core drilling. | |
