| ABSTRACT: | Orion Gold NL (ASX: ORN) is pleased to advise that the Department of Mineral Resources has granted permission to access the underground workings at the historic Prieska Copper Mine zinc-copper project (PC Project). The PC Project is being acquired as part of Orion’s acquisition of Agama Exploration and Mining (Pty) Ltd (Agama)(refer ASX release 3 January 2017). The regulatory permission to access via the decline roadway allows Orion to confirm that the access is safe and then to conduct a detailed assessment of the state of the underground workings and the concrete lined shaft at the PC Project. This work is aimed at completing engineering and cost studies for inclusion into feasibility studies (Figure 1). Sampling of the water in the shaft previously measured at 400m below surface will be carried out to confirm its non acidic nature and its suitability for process water. The water sampling, accurate determination of water level and inspection of shaft infrastructure will allow detailed planning of dewatering and application for water use licences as part of a future application for a Mining Right. Further results have been received from diamond core drilling at the +105 Level Target at the PC Project, with the holes located to test areas up-dip from historical mining areas. The PC Project covers unmined dip and strike extensions from historical underground mining, with mineralisation having previously been delineated by extensive drilling and geophysics. The current drilling program is designed to confirm, in-fill and extend the historical drilling at the +105 Level Target, where it is targeting mineralisation that would be amenable to extraction via open pit mining. | |
