| ABSTRACT: | Marmota is delighted to announce that the December drilling program at Aurora Tank has returned multiple significant gold intersections, all close to the surface, extending the excellent results from the September program, and yielding the best 4m composite result to date. In September 2016, Marmota commenced its first drilling program at Aurora Tank, at the Goshawk Gold Prospect, with the intention of fully defining geochemical dispersion from gold mineralisation. Significant gold mineralisation over a 750m strike length is now confirmed. Mineralisation is consistently within 50 metres of the surface. On 30 November 2016, Marmota commenced Phase 2 RC drilling at Aurora Tank. The first 31 holes (2,604 metres) were completed in December, prior to drilling stopping on 18 December. Drilling to date has outlined a new zone of gold mineralisation. The primary mineralisation appears to be in an anastomosing shear zone developed during retrograde metamorphism of metasedimentary and metabasic gneiss. This is a typical environment for late Archean-style gold mineralisation. The mineralisation also includes weakly anomalous silver, arsenic and copper and from the fresher intersections consists of quartz, sericite and carbonate associated with pyrite and probable traces of arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite. | |
