| ABSTRACT: | Marindi Metals (ASX: MZN) is pleased to provide an update on exploration activities across its Southern Forrestania Gold Project in Western Australia, where assay results from recent initial reconnaissance drilling have been received. As previously reported, significant quartz was intersected in the anticipated NW-SE structural extension positions of each of the workings, validating the SAM geophysical method employed to “map” the structural fabrics at the Great Southern Gold Prospect. Assays from the recent drilling have returned very low-levels of gold contained within the intersected quartz (see Table 2 for a full list of results), suggesting that the NW-SE orientation is not the principal control on high-grade mineralisation at the GSGP. The presence of proven high-grade gold occurrences at both the Great Southern and Premier (Commonwealth) historical gold mines, as well as the identification of numerous geophysical targets – including the major new target area GS19 identified recently along a NE-SW trend straddling the granite/granite contact – indicates that gold mineralisation is not constrained “along-strike” and is instead enriched along the contact zone. “The presence of historical high-grade gold mines at the Great Southern Gold Prospect proves the capacity for this area to deliver high-grade results,” said Marindi’s Managing Director, Simon Lawson. | |
