ABSTRACT:Havilah Resources Limited (“Havilah” or “Company”) is pleased to report further high grade bedrock gold intersections from recent drilling of the Portia open pit southern extensions. These drilling results were generated by washing of the entire drill samples for each sampled interval and fire assay finish of the final panned concentrate (refer to the attached JORC Code Table 1). It has been found that due to the ubiquitous coarse gold nugget effect, the larger washed sample assay is more reliable for Portia samples. There are often large disparities between conventional laboratory gold fire assays (that use a 50 gram pulverised sample) and the washed sample assays. For example, over the same 30.5 metre interval in PTAC 232, the conventional fire assay average is 10.4 g/t Au (cf 39.3 g/t Au for the washed samples above). Presumably, the lower gold assay is the result of inadequate representation of some coarse nuggets that were observed during washing of the larger sample. Commenting on these results, Havilah Managing Director, Dr Chris Giles, said: “The weathered bedrock material at Portia continues to deliver high grade drilling results, which augers well for delineation of a sizeable viable bedrock gold resource. “Unfortunately, achieving reliable assay results by tabling and concentrating the gold in the samples is a time consuming business not amenable to routine laboratory methods, so our assays are slow in coming. However, we are convinced they are reliable and a good guide to what we can expect to mine in the bedrock. “With the bulk of the overburden now removed any incremental increase in recoverable gold resources accessible from the current open pit is extremely attractive” he said.
