ABSTRACT: | Golden Rim Resources Ltd (Golden Rim, ASX: GMR) today announced that it had intersected widespread bedrock gold mineralisation in a recent air core drilling program on its 100% owned Babonga licence in Burkina Faso. The drilling was designed to test a highly coherent gold-in-soil anomaly at Babonga, previously identified by Golden Rim, in an area of no outcrop. The anomaly is approximately 2.1km long and 300m wide. It is located in the southern portion of the permit, and is coincident with a major regional structure (Figure 1). The anomaly has soil sample values up to 270 ppb gold, strikes NE to N and is open to the south. The air core drilling program consisted of 10 lines of drilling (69 holes, for 2,319 metres) across the best areas of the soil anomaly. The drilling has discovered a coherent zone of bedrock gold mineralisation, over an area of 1km x 200m, and comprising a series of stacked gold mineralised veins. Many of the holes were stopped before the planned depth of 50m because the drilling reached blade refusal at fresh rock. Subsequently, infill holes and several extra lines of holes were drilled across the mineralised structure to ensure adequate testing. The Company is considering undertaking a small follow-up reverse circulation (RC) drilling program, capable of penetrating into fresh rock. Golden Rim’s Managing Director, Craig Mackay, said “The air core drilling has proven a low cost but effective way to test the major gold-in-soil anomaly at Babonga and to meet government expenditure commitments.” “Given we often see a depletion of gold mineralisation in the weathered zone in Burkina Faso the shallow air core gold intercepts are regarded as significant and a follow-up deeper RC drilling program may be a further way to add value to the project.” | |
