ABSTRACT: | Doray Minerals Limited (“Doray” or “the Company”) (ASX: DRM) is pleased to announce assay results from the first pass RC drilling over the St Anne’s Prospect within the Gnaweeda Gold Project. St Anne’s is located approximately 3.5km to the south along strike from Turnberry (see Figure 1). This RC drilling was designed to test the bedrock potential of the prospective host geology defined from previous aircore drilling, which also highlighted significant anomalism within the weathered zone. Drilling was successful in intersecting a similar geological package to that observed at Turnberry. Several encouraging mineralised results were returned, with the best result being 20m @ 2.4g/t Au from 57m in SARC005, including 8m @ 5.0g/t Au. Drill section 7,083,440mN in Figure 2 highlights the position of this mineralisation within the stratigraphy at St Anne’s. Managing Director, Mr Leigh Junk said the discovery at St Anne’s highlighted the prospectivity of the Gnaweeda Greenstone Belt and the ability to substantially grow the Project’s gold endowment. “St Anne’s has the potential to add to the 322,000 ounce Resource we have at Turnberry, which is the basis of the current mining feasibility study” Mr Junk said. Drill hole locations are illustrated in Figure 3. Two sections approximately 80m apart were drilled with a total of 8 holes completed for 1,500m. Drill depths varied between 135m and 219m, with holes spaced approximately 80m apart. Drilling intersected a sequence of sedimentary rocks, differentiated mafic intrusives and a series of felsic volcanics, which are steep to sub-vertically dipping. Mineralisation appears to be hosted by a mafic unit within a broad, sub-vertical shear zone and is characterised by extensive stockwork-like quartz vein development, with associated pyrite mineralisation, and silica-chlorite alteration patterns. | |
