| ABSTRACT: | The distribution of scandium throughout the Goongarrie South area shows distinct lines of mineralisation that each extend over many kilometres, coincident with extensive, strong cobalt and nickel mineralisation. The assay results from analyses on stored pulps (from historic drill programs) show that, as expected, scandium mineralisation is widespread. The release of the first-received data early in November gave an impression of the broad extent of mineralisation. However, the receipt of the complete dataset shows that the two lines of mineralisation defined at Goongarrie South (Figure 1) are longer than initially indicated, and are open to the north and south. Scandium mineralisation is evident in some holes from surface. Downhole, the scandium mineralisation either sits above the cobalt and nickel mineralisation or overlaps its upper portions. The deeper parts of the cobaltnickel mineralised zone usually contain lower scandium values. Most of the thickest and highest-grade scandium results are located on the Pamela Jean / Patricia Ann line in the east. Grades are generally lower but thicknesses more even on the Elsie Tynan line in the southwest. | |
